Stevenson Quarter Horses

You will find him saddling up one of his young A.Q.H.A. geldings, getting them ready for who knows what. When Ed has a horse ready to sell, the horse has been put through the hoops. This means the horse has been roped on in the branding pen & outside, sorted cattle, pushed cattle through lanes & chutes, shown in reining and working cow horse competitions and ridden outside, on & off the trail. Ed's schooling program for horses gives an all around using education. If your interest is in the show arena or your wanting a dependable horse that you can put in any environment and get the job done. . . .

Stringer's Orchard

Founded in 1984, Stringer's Winery is family owned and operated.  The winery is nestled in Goose Lake Valley with rugged mountains towering to the east and expansive Goose Lake to the west.  Freezing temperatures are possible any time of the year due to our 5000 ft. elevation.  Not only is the view spectacular, the location is ideal for growing the regions hardy delicacy, the wild plum.  It is from this plum that we make our famous wine that many consider superior to all other fruit wines.  We invite you to experience the unique flavors of our dry and sweet wine.

The Historic Niles Hotel

The first stones for what was originally named the Curtis Hotel were laid by Mrs. Curtis (Mr. Curtis was hunting elk at the time on the Flourney property without permission) near the dusty and parched south east corner of Main and Modoc Streets of Alturas in 1908 because it seemed like a good idea to her at the time. In 1912 Jay Eugene Niles purchased the building because he wanted to eliminate his competition, completed the second and third floors and renamed it, oddly enough, the Niles Hotel.
